Portrait of Deepanjali holding a sketched portrait of herself

Who am I?

Hi, I’m Deepanjali, a product designer based in Gurugram.

I started as a software engineer at DTU, learning how things are built. Then I co-founded a D2C fashion brand and learned how things are sold, and how one bad screen can cost you a customer. Design turned out to be where both met.

Today I design at Farmako (YC S20), a 30-minute medicine delivery app, where the goal is to get people their medicine with as little effort as possible.

Things I love to do

Capturing moments through photography

Experiences

Getting inspired from real life

Ola boarding-point sign at the airport

Ola

I was at the Bengaluru airport feeling exhausted and tired. The moment I saw this particular banner by Ola, I instantly got my motivation and energy back. I reached the boarding point.

Backstory: I remembered as a kid I used to travel to school by foot. I always used to tell myself that only 2 more minutes were left to reach home. This was my motivation to keep moving forward and reach home.

Insights:
So, user experience is in the details. Even the small thing matters in design.

Reebok store window with a three-dimensional shoe display

Reebok

I was at Connaught Place in Delhi, roaming around just to explore the place. I was not in the mood to buy anything, but this shoe got my attention.
Basically, they emphasized the shoe with a 3D model of the actual shoe.

Insights:
In design perspective, emphasizing things can get users attention.

Red Bull Mona Lisa advertisement in a restaurant

Redbull

I was in Pune in some restaurant, and immediately this particular advertisement from Red Bull got my attention. It was the painting of Mona Lisa smiling with Red Bull in her hand, doing the cheers and drinking.

Red Bull in the hand of Mona Lisa is quite unusual, so that is the reason that got my attention.

Insights:
Sometimes do things that are unexpected in design.
